Profile

I'm Jonny.  I'm married and have two little girls.  I love playing golf, doing lots of DIY projects and spending time with my family. I decided to become a counsellor because I had friends who were going through difficult times and I wanted to learn how to support them better.  My greatest strengths in counselling are that I'm very empathetic, I believe in counselling, and I'm confident that, where possible, I can help people feel much better.

I am trained in integrative counselling.  This means I can help you by using a range of different approaches.  The models I am trained in are:

  • Person-Centred Counselling- This is a gentle form of therapy which values you as the expert (on you) to lead and guide us together throughout the process.
  • CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy) This is a specific form of therapy designed particularly (but not exclusively) to help you combat unhelpful thinking.  It is formed on the basis that we can change our thinking and behaviour in order to improve how we feel emotionally and physically.
  • Psychodynamic Counselling- this therapy explores the past and helps you to identify and deactivate the negative active past that is still having an influence on you today.
